You love to type, but who loves to watch? Not anyone, that’s for sure. So you want to know how to lock your Windows 10 keyboard so that nobody but you sees what you’re typing? That may seem odd, but it’s actually a big deal. 

The answer lies in a new feature found in the latest iteration of Microsoft’s operating system: virtual desktops. This updated feature allows users to utilize multiple “virtual desktops.” These are separate windows that are displayed on-screen. 

You can then have as many virtual desktops as you like. Meaning, you don’t have to keep your personal and work lives completely separate from one another.  But if you’re not familiar with virtual desktops, you may be wondering what the big deal is. 

Well, it’s simple. You can keep different tasks separate from one another, but you can also work on the same task at the same time. That way, you don’t have to keep switching between two different tasks all the time. And with virtual desktops, this is even easier than ever. Let’s take a look at the steps you need to take to lock your Windows 10 keyboard.

How to Lock Your Windows 10 Keyboard

The first thing. Let's make sure you're using the virtual desktop feature on your Windows 10 computer. You can do this by opening the Start menu and navigating to Settings. If you don't see this option you need to make sure Virtual Desktop is enabled under Settings > System > Virtual Desktops.  

Once you’re sure you’re using virtual desktops, you need to make sure you’re using keyboard shortcuts to switch between them. To cancel this proper click on or drain and compete at the taskbar and faux to "display taskbar" from the menu that appears.

You can also use Virtual Desktops to quickly switch between tasks. For example if your business needs to conduct research from several applications you can switch to an email virtual desktop without closing your reports or losing your location.

Lock the Keyboard You Want

There are a few different ways to find the keyboard you want to lock. The first is to go into your System Preferences and click on the Keyboard icon. 

This will open up a new window with a list of all the keyboards currently connected to your computer. 

If you only have one keyboard it will be listed here. If you've got got more than one keyboards you may use the "Select Keyboard" drop-down menu to select which one you need to lock. 

The second way to find the keyboard you want to lock is to use the "Keyboard" shortcut in the Finder. 

To do this open a new Finder window and press Command+K (or go to the "Go" menu and select "Go to Folder"). 

This will open up a new window where you can type in "/Library/Preferences/".
